This 2010 remix of an original track by the duo Abacay (singer Melany Morganstern and keyboardist Miles D. Torrance) has been the source of some confusion among PSB fans by virtue of the mix title, "iby Pet Shop Boys and Ellie Goulding Remix." What, precisely, did the Pet Shop Boys and the British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding have to do with this mix? So I took it upon myself to find out. It proved simple enough—I just wrote to Abacay via a link on their official website and asked. And they were gracious enough to send back this prompt reply:
"iby" stands for "inspired by." It's just that the style of the remix touches the style of the named artists. The named artists have nothing to do with the song. But maybe it finds some more listeners by this trick.
Thus, aside from inspiration, the Boys had absolutely nothing to do with it.
