Celebrities citing PSB tracks among their Desert Island Discs choices
I'm aware of only a few instances to date in which Pet Shop Boys tracks have appeared among guests' choices on the BBC's Desert Island Discs. But I wouldn't be surprised if there are others. If anyone knows of additional cases and can verify them, please let me know. In the meantime, here are the ones I know of:
- Andrew Neil (journalist/broadcaster, February 25, 2007) - "Being Boring"
- George Michael (singer/songwriter, September 30, 2007) - "Being Boring"
- Janet Street-Porter (journalist/media personality, November 23, 2008) - "Always on My Mind"
- David Walliams (comedian/actor, February 22, 2009) - "Later Tonight"
- Hugh Bonneville (actor, February 28, 2016) - "West End Girls"
- Cressida Dick (London Metropolitan Police Commissioner, February 8, 2019) - "In Private" (Dusty Springfield's rendition, but since it was written and produced by PSB, I'm counting it)
- Rupert Everett (actor/director/writer, January 5, 2020) - "Being Boring" (also the one he'd save above all others)
- Helena Morrissey (financier/campaigner, March 22, 2020) - "Being Boring"
- Maria Balshaw (director of the Tate art museums and galleries, August 9, 2020) - "It's a Sin"
