I discuss at some length the lyrics and context of this song within the musical Closer to Heaven in my entry for it there. The Pet Shop Boys' demo has floated around as an unauthorized "bootleg" ever since 2001, and it's only natural that they should finally give it official release with the 2017 Nightlife reissue since (1) it boasts one of that musical's strongest lyrics, (2) it's one of its most popular songs, and (3) it—unlike, say, "It's Just My Little Tribute to Caligula, Darling!"and "Out of My System"—doesn't sound just plain wrong with Neil singing it. So, despite its widespread "underground" availability beforehand, it's a very welcome addition to the set of bonus tracks accompanying the reissues.
Again, please see the song's Closer to Heaven entry for assorted annotations.
